A presentation by Steve Turner, Inspector, ORR
The North East Area Council welcomes Steve Turner, Inspector at the Office of Rail and Road, to come and talk to members about developments in railway safety.
The ORR regulates health and safety for the entire mainline rail network in Britain, as well as London Underground, light rail, trams and the heritage sector. They ensure that those who are responsible for operating Britain’s railways make them safe for passengers and provide a safe place for staff to work. Britain now has one of the safest railways in Europe – for passengers and for workers, but we cannot be complacent. There is always more the industry can do to improve our safety record even further.
This event will be of particular relevance to those who are interested in the safe operation on railways, as well as those who are studying on one of the IRO courses. Light refreshments kindly supplied by Tracsis.
Please note that you should aim for a prompt arrival, as the reception area at the Academy will not be manned after 17:30hrs.
No need to book, but please e-mail email@example.com if you have any dietary or other requirements. Members are requested to bring along their membership cards.
