Event Details

Presentation by Andrew Welch, Distribution Manager, Network Rail

Major railway routes such as the East and West Coast Main Lines have been electrified for some years, and the Great Western Main Line is currently the subject of a major electrification programme. But how is the power, delivered through Overhead Line Equipment, managed, and maintained? Where does the power come from? What infrastructure is required in order to provide and ensure suitable supply to run both High Speed Mainline Services, as well as Suburban Networks? We are pleased to welcome Andrew Welch (Distribution Manager, Network Rail) who is responsible for the Northern part of the West Coast Main Line. He will give a presentation on his, and his team’s role in this important aspect of Railway Operations.

Refreshments will be available from 17.30 hrs, with the Presentation commencing at 18.00 hrs., followed by a Q & A session.

This promises to be a very fascinating talk on an area we are all vaguely aware of, but do not have the ‘inside’ detail.
