A presentation by Philip Meikle, Transport Strategy Director, Nexus
The North East Area Council welcomes Philip Meikle, Transport Strategy Director at Nexus, to come and talk to members about developments with the Tyne & Wear Metro.
The future of any city-region depends on the best transport networks. Nexus provides, plans and promotes public transport to improve the economic prosperity of North East England and the daily lives of its people. Plans include the Metro: all change modernisation programme, worth around £350m over 11 years, to renew tracks, power lines, technology and structures across the Metro system. This has helped reduce delays while improving accessibility for all passengers. They are currently procuring a new train fleet for Metro which will last decades to come, providing a step change in comfort and reliability for passengers.
This event will be of particular relevance to those who are interested in light rail, as well as those who are studying on one of the IRO courses. Light refreshments kindly supplied by Tracsis.
Please note that you should aim for a prompt arrival, as the reception area at the Academy will not be manned after 17:30hrs.
No need to book, but please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any dietary or other requirements. Members are requested to bring along with them their membership cards.
