The South West and Wales Area welcomes all IRO members and prospective members, wherever they live or work. We cater essentially for those based west of Didcot through to West Wales, Worcester/Hereford and Cornwall. Most of our members are from the Swindon, Bristol and Cardiff areas, but we are looking to recruit new members from across the South West, with a view to holding events throughout the region.
The South West Area Council itself comprises railway operators from a variety of ages and backgrounds. As well as extending a warm welcome to everyone, we are particularly keen to develop our relationships with IRO students and, of course, prospective members and students so please do get in touch.
Future Events
Currently the IRO South West Area Council are in the process of arranging and confirming the events for 2018. As well as a number of early evening talks around the area on a number of subjects we are also looking to repeat the successful Operational weekends which were run in conjunction with our colleagues from the West Somerset Railway. Once dates, times and locations are finalised both the IRO website and the Facebook page for the IRO South West Area will be updated accordingly.
The South West Area Council looks forward to seeing IRO members old and new at various functions during 2018.
